Each April, we proudly recognize the Month of the Military Child, a time dedicated to honoring the strength, resilience, and contributions of children in military families. Military-connected students serve our country alongside their families by adapting to frequent moves, changes in routines, and time apart from loved ones—all while continuing to learn, grow, and thrive. While April is a special time of recognition, we celebrate and support military children all year long.
At Rockledge, we are honoring our military-connected students with Military Child Spirit Week. Students and staff are encouraged to participate each day by dressing according to the daily themes:
- Monday (4/20): Patriotic Day – Wear patriotic colors and attire
- Tuesday: No School
- Wednesday (4/22): Purple Up Day – Wear purple to show support for military kids
- Thursday (4/23): Camouflage Day – Wear camo to honor those who serve
- Friday (4/24): R.E.D. Day – Wear red to “Remember Everyone Deployed”
Purple Up Day represents all branches of the military—Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, and Veterans—by combining the colors of each service into one unified symbol of support.
We invite our Rockledge community to join us in celebrating our military children by participating in Spirit Week, viewing the slideshow shared during the morning announcements, and offering kind words of appreciation when you see them around the building.
